The German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina has commissioned the ISG to conduct a survey of members of the German Parliament (Bundestag). The research project is part of the initiative for evidence-based policy making of the Leopoldina started in 2018 aimed at promoting the dialogue between politics and science and enhancing the use of evidence in the political process of decision-making.
With the survey of the members of the German Parliament the research project seeks to collect systematic information on the use of scientific evidence in debates, committees and consultations of the parliament. This way, an important research gap regarding the understanding and handling of evidence in parliamentary work is to be closed.
